Professor Godwin Iornenge Akper’s research interests revolve around public theology and social transformation, primarily within Sub-Saharan Africa. His scholarly pursuits encompass various themes such as Christian identity, interreligious dialogue, citizenship dynamics, and African Christology. Professor Akper’s work delves into the complexities of cultural integration, religious pluralism, and the role of theology in fostering positive societal change.
Furthermore, he investigates experiences of alienation, particularly in post-apartheid South Africa, analyzing theological dimensions and advocating for justice and social inclusion. Additionally, his research examines the engagement of the church with broader societal issues, emphasizing church-based activism, community development initiatives, and ethical leadership in public life. Through his interdisciplinary approach, Professor Akper aims to address pressing social challenges and promote understanding and justice in diverse African contexts.
